Narrative Essay
I
always have been a very difficult and immature little kid back in my years of high
school. The teacher who ended up as my class mentor knew me well enough to not
recruit me to any events that include outside class’ activities. If so I would
just ended up did not showing up or if I did came I would be the one who ruin
the event bad enough to be a perfect activity. Had been called as “the insider”
who only tended for what she liked, made me being assumed as an arrogant girl by
people in common. I did not get along well enough to impress the teachers, even
I did most of their classes as the best as I could and getting good scores, but
still I felt that they kept want some more from me. As a student I understand
that whether I want to or not I have to obey what the teacher asked me to do
if I wanted to pass all the classes. But then several things happened and
finally changed my perspective and view of life.
In
my first year I was all innocent shy kid who sat in the back of the class and did
nothing but kept count and wait for the bell to rang. As one day the English
teacher shocked us with a test without a warning at the first place and it made
most of the students failed. My friend and I giving each other backs that day
and we happened to be two of six students who get enough score and passed the
test. At first I was happy because I finally did well at something and helped
my friend with her worst nightmare that was English. We planned doing that in
every subject or I thought so until later I found out that my deed to her was became
one side partnership. She did not want to share her best work at Math with me.
Not one bit. She knew I was poor at them, but did nothing in return.
After
I have been recovered from having trust issue with someone, I tend to work
alone in every test and subject, even though I still poor at Math. Math always
became my worst nightmare and my math teacher knew it very well. She felt pity,
so one day she suggested me to took an extra hour with her and I did. She was
very patient while teaching me. She told me I was not stupid at them, that if I
patient enough soon I will be able to face Math easily. I was hoping that she
would support and teach me until I really did well at them, but one day she
stopped me after class and offering something that was change my perspectives
on her. She asked that if I want to continue the extra hour of math I have to
give her something in returns. I felt really guilty at that time. If I continue
I did not have extra amount of money and if I stopped she will thought I was an
ungrateful person. And I did stop, but I thanked her that she still professional
about her subject in class with me.
Another
case happened in my third year of school. But at that time I was not worry
about having trouble in classes anymore. Instead I was more worried about my Practical
Work Field. Me and one other girl had been placed in an office factory to be a
helping worker at their accountant department. The condition in an office once
again forced me to work with team that always made me nervous from so long ago.
One day a very slick assistant asked me to help her out about writing some
important E-mail in English and I did my best at that time even it was not my
field. I also checked over and over again and show her the result first. She
said “okay, send it” and the day over with peace. But one time I sent an E-mail
wrongly and causing she got mocked by her boss she angered me. She blamed me
and went berserk.
Three
years in high school gave so many memories not only the good ones but also the
bad ones as well. I learned so much and there is one thing from those cases
above that always stuck in my mind, which was if you were good at something
never do it for free. Always appreciate your abilities, so the rest of the
world will fall into line. We do not have to be really caring about what will
others think about us. If so, we will be just always below everyone and the rest
of the world will take advantages on us.
