     Harley Quinn is one of comic book villains published by DC Universe. She is known for her appearances in Batman superhero comic as the Joker’s henchwomen. She is much more famous than any other female figure in Batman Universe, because of her unique characters and origins. She describes as a female clown who is madly in love with the Batman arch-enemy, the Joker. As crazy as the Joker, she wear the iconic tight black and red costume with pale face. Her famous origin however comes from one comic book called Mad Love created by DC’s Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. In the comic, she once has normal life as Dr. Harleen Quinnzel, a psychiatrist. She works at Arkham Asylum (a Batman Universe mental house for lunatic criminals) to study dangerous criminals’ mind. Harley never thought that she will meet the love of her life in a mental house, but in that place then she began her romantic relationship with the Prince Clown of Crime himself and became the Joker sidekick/girlfriend ever since. Her story with the Joker reminds one of the most interesting love story through fans. How is that? The paragraphs below will tell you.

     The Joker is describe as a mass murdering criminal with zero empathy in comic books. He has no interest and love anything except maybe, himself. So do his feeling towards Harley. Ever since Harley madly in love with him, she willing to changed her live to become a criminal. It is the most ironic thing that happened to a person. Once she become a psychiatrist whose job is to remain sane, then she herself become one of the lunatic criminal. She changed herself and her purposed of life since then. She had been successfully manipulated by the Joker. Her goal since then is only settle down with the Joker and have a happy ending with him. She and the Joker then spread crimes all over the city. They robbing and killing, and sometimes just for fun or mostly just to piss off the Dark Knight. All of it she does for her love of her life, the Joker.

     Harley's life perhaps have been changed, but since from the beginning she was no angle. She always want to get everything she want with an easy way. Whether it is illegal or amoral, she will take it if she wants to. So do when she became the Joker’s groupie. Harley always do whatever the Joker told her to do. She takes all the risks just to satisfy her Puddin’, as she often call him. Her love for him have blinded her reality. Maybe for everyone it is just crazy, but for her it is normal, because like she said “all this gal want to do is just being with her loving sweetheart”. So that’s all she wants to do. She will do everything for the Joker.

     In almost comic books of these two criminals lover, always told that the Joker’s only interest is just Batman. So he keep Harley by his side just to use her. But apparently Harley doesn’t mind. Even since the beginning of their adventure, Harley always been being abused by the Joker. He often beats and mocks her if she out of his line. He doesn’t like anybody surpass his crimes. Once she almost killed the Batman, the Joker nearly killed her. At a short time her sense come back to reality, but then the Joker sent a love note and Harley falling in love with him all over again. The two have an on and off relationship too. Even Harley has a new special girlfriend, Poison Ivy (a criminal too). But as soon as the Joker comes, she will easily throws Ivy for him. It is because her love for him is bigger than anything else, even herself. Harley always takes the Joker back whether it is his persuasion which win her heart or because her deep love for him that will hurt her more if she doesn’t.

     All in all, Harley’s love for the Joker made several changes in her live, such as her transformation from a doctor to a criminal, always obeyed the Joker and even if he hurts her she always have reasons to always take him back. Studying all the case above it has one important point for us to keep in mind. That is do not let our self loves somebody or something too much if they will not do the same to us. Because if we do, we will just become someone who live to please somebody. It is true that we can’t help with who ourself falling in love with, but always remember to love ourself first before anything or anyone else. Appreciate ourself and do not give loves too much to someone who we know is wrong for us, like the Joker for Harley. Because as we know in Islam, God does not like everything that too much.
